GBA members and their families are invited to a special free tour of the Miller Red Barn in Gilroy. Our host is Gary Walton, President of The Miller Red Barn Association (MRBA). MRBA hopes to collaborate with the GBA to celebrate and preserve Gilroy’s rich agricultural heritage. We are invited to tour the historic barn, and to contribute ideas to transform it into an Educational Hub.
MRBA has developed an educational program exploring the essential role pollinators play in the natural world, with fourteen bilingual posters, student guides and a lesson plan. To make this program widely available, MRBA is considering applying for a grant covering printing and advertising. Gary is very interested to discuss a partnership for this program with the GBA.
We will see the eight completed Agricultural History displays, covering agriculture in the south county. The last display, titled “Our Future with Farming & Food”, is about the need for pollinators. Gary is very interested to get our ideas, support and collaboration.
