Creating Volunteer Event Pages

Steps

There are four steps to create a signup for a new event.

  1. Create a code for the Event.
    • Go to the MailChimp Tag List Google Sheet.
    • Add the code following the existing patterns:
      • Volunteer-YYYY.MM.DD-AAAA
        • YYYY = year
        • MM = month
        • DD = day
        • AAAA = an acronym for the event’s name
  2. The Signup Form needs to know what Event we are adding. The Form does the following:
    • It Tags the person in Mailchimp with the code from Step 1, so that we can easily communicate with the Event Volunteers.
    • It appends the entry to the Volunteer Google Sheet using the code from Step 1.
  3. In the Google Sheet: Volunteer Google Sheet, create a new tab for the Event by duplicating “Tarantula Day”.
    • Edit cell A2 and insert the code from Step 1 above.
  4. In Ninja Tables Pro:
    • Create a duplicate of the table: Volunteer-2024.04.20-GGCSPS.
    • Go back to the Google Sheet in 3 above.
      • Select “File / Share / Publish to Web”.
      • Change “Entire Document” to the name of your new sheet from 3 above.
      • Change “Web Page” to “Comma Separated Values”.
      • Copy the very lengthy link address.
    • Open the new Ninja Table XXXXXXXXX
  5. Find and clone Page: Gilroy Gardening Group Spring Plant Sale – Signup.

In the WordPress Dashboard:

  • In Posts, filter by “Volunteer Events”.
  • Find the “Gilroy Gardening Group Spring Plant Sale”.
  • Clone the Post.
  • Edit the new Post.
  • Update the content.
