Please join us for our first in person meeting at Old City Hall in Gilroy at 7PM Tuesday evening. You may also tune in via Zoom (see below).
We are privileged to have a presentation by Dr. Nina Sokolov from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Sokolov is passionate about bee health and how to design ecologically minded management and conservation strategies to help bees flourish into the future. She is interested in understanding how crop pollination events can impact virus dynamics in honey bees and how that may be impacting native bee health throughout Northern California.
Her presentation will discuss bee viruses, including risks of transmission to native bees and medicinal foraging behaviors. She will also talk about the importance of breeding honey bees for varroa resistance and how she uses art in combination with her science.
Dr. Sokolov is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the lab of Dr. Mike Boots at UC Berkeley.

On Tuesday, January 6, we will be holding our first general meeting of 2026, hosted as a hybrid in-person and online event at Old City Hall.
Fran, the owner of Old City Hall, has generously offered the upstairs room at no charge to the GBA. To show our appreciation and support, Christine and I will be having dinner at 6:00 pm prior to the meeting and would love for you to join us. It will be a great opportunity to mingle, catch up, and of course talk about bees before the meeting begins.
